Dr. Andy Dombro has been a practicing physician and a passionate student of golf for more than twenty years. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California at Berkeley, he attended the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and completed residency training at the University of Louisville Hospital. Board-certified in Internal Medicine and as an Instructor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, he is an educator of medical students/residents, a recent contributing author of a medical textbook, and an experienced lecturer/speaker at medical gatherings. And, as a Clinical Instructor for the University of Colorado Sports Medicine Department, he serves as team physician for the men’s and women’s golf teams.

As the President and Founder of The Institute for Medicine & Golf, LLC™, Dr. Dombro works tirelessly to advance its mission, namely the empowerment of all golfers through increased health awareness, education, and prevention regarding their medical illnesses and/or physical limitations – helping golfers of all levels achieve a longer, healthier, and more rewarding golf life™.

As such, Dr. Dombro is the author of Medical Mulligans™, a popular column discussing views and insights on these golf-related medical & health topics. Having published over fifty articles in golf and sports publications from coast to coast, his stories commonly utilize practical and inspirational medical examples from all the professional golf tours.

In addition, Dr. Dombro has been appointed Medical Director for the Gold Crown Foundation™, which includes Colorado’s largest junior golf program, and whose mission is to “educate youth and community through sports and enrichment programs.” He’s been a guest on numerous radio talk shows, and is currently a recurring guest on Making the Turn (with Peter Kessler) on XM satellite radio’s PGA Tour Network.

He has also served as a consultant/medical expert for corporations, such as Eli Lilly & Company/Cialis® and Velocity Sports and Entertainment, regarding their PGA Tour/golf sponsorship programs, both in the United States and Canada. As such, he has made personal appearances at various PGA Tour events, has conducted educational clinics for the media, and developed educational content for the PGA Tour’s official website, www.pgatour.com.

He was also the co-author of Tips for Enjoying Your Golf Game, a booklet distributed at PGA Tour events and pro shops, addressing medical/mental issues as they relate to golf. His audio/video production, The Pressure is On™, was part of an interactive experience seen by countless patrons at many PGA Tour events.
